The Scotia Highland Dancers, eastern Nova Scotia's Scottish dance troupe, have captured the hearts of their audiences for more than two decades.  Since their first appearance at the Antigonish Highland Games in 1980, the Scotia Highland Dancers continue to thrill audiences with their intricate footwork, innovative choreography, and colourful costumes.  The high standards set by the Scotia Dancers have been achieved through years of dedication and hard work.  From the beginning the troupe's purpose has been to promote traditional highland dancing and Scottish culture through innovative and tasteful choreography.

The first directors of the Scotia Highland Dancers were Mrs. Murdo MacIsaac, Mrs. Gerarda MacDonald, Ms Janice Macquarrie, Mrs Bernice Valvasori, and Mr. Scott Williams. Over the years a number of other highly acclaimed dance instructors have contributed to the program as well.  For the past several years, two  2 former members have carried on the instruction and continued to inspire the dancers to display the wonderful numbers in the troupe's repertoire. Shelley Rovers and Janet Smith have returned again this year as choreographers with the troupe.

Over the last 23 years the troupe has traveled to many places to share their talents.  Internationally, the troupe has performed in Scotland, at Epcot Center in Florida, at Disneyland and on the Queen Mary in California. We have toured extensively throughout the Maritime provinces and the New England States.  Highlights of our Canadian travels include;  Winterlude,  Parliament Hill in Ottawa,  Festival by the Sea,  the Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville , and Childrens Festivals in Quebec and Prince Edward Island.
